Car Wreck
leads to sudden death

On May 29, 2026 at 9:40 AM, Mr. Rivera, a 60 year old family man, who worked for a landscape company, was at a job site in a residential area in Chesapeake, Virginia. The day began like any other for Rivera who was well respected for kindness and professionalism. Yet, he did not know a careless driver would come speeding down the street, hit a turning car, and barrel out of control onto the lawn where he was working. The preventable accident would end his life in mere seconds before 9:45 AM. His family and coworkers were shocked and devastated by the sudden death of Mr. Rivera.

Sadly, tragic events like this happen all too often. For example, the Navy Sailor who was cleaning up on a submarine in the shipyard in May 2024. His hand brushed an electrical panel which was supposed to have been disconnected. Nothing should have happened, instead he was electrocuted and died without warning. Neither the Sailor, nor Mr. Rivera did anything to cause an untimely demise, nor could anyone have predicted these sudden deaths. No one knows when the next one will be, but we all know, every human has an appointment with death.

And as it is appointed to man once to die, and after this the judgment. (Hebrews 10:27)

Someone said, there are two certainties in life – death and taxes. Most people expect to pay taxes but live ignoring death. This is not wise and God has warned us to be prepared. Life insurance may help relatives after someone dies, but it will not help the deceased. We need soul insurance because once our eyes close for the last time on Earth, they will open for the first time in eternity – either in Heaven or Hell.

The Lord doesn’t want any humans in Hell.

“As I live,” says the Lord God, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways!” (Ezekiel 33:11a)

That is why He sent Jesus to be the Savior of mankind. Remember the famous verse, John 3:16? God loved us so much, that He sent His Son to pay for our sins so we would not end up in Hell. Yet, God does not force people into Heaven. Instead, He extends invitations.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” (Matthew 16:24)

Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” (John 7:37)

For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

You must choose. Jesus and Heaven. Or reject Jesus and Hell.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father [in Heaven] except through Me. (John 14:6)

The Bible is clear, there is no other way and it is foolish to think your good works will get you to Heaven.

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. (Galatians 2:16)

Friends, don’t wait to ask Jesus to save you. No one knows when their time on Earth will end, whether it will be in peaceful sleep in old age or in sudden death. Reach out the Lord today and live with the joy of Heaven in your heart until you reach your eternal home.
