I’m excited to introduce Healthy Living and Christian Living writer Susan Neal RN, MBA, MHS. She is the award winning author of 7 Steps to Get Off Sugar and Carbohydrates. Susan also shares time and insights helping other authors with the Christian Independent Publishers Association.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I used to write full-time and could write a book in five months. Now I am the CEO of two author associations Christian Authors Network (CAN) & Christian Indie Publishing Association (CIPA). It takes me over a year to write a book now.
CAN is for traditionally published authors, and CIPA if for self-published authors. Both of these organizations provide authors and small publishers with resources to publish professionally and market effectively. Learning about the publishing industry is challenging. CAN/CIPA discounts, educational materials, and marketing tools make an author’s experience easier and more profitable. Annual Membership costs only $90. As a child, did you think you’d be writer? Or what did you want to be when you grew up?
I never had a desire to write when I was young. In fact, I got a C in my college writing course. But we can change careers and learn new things. I’ve been a nurse, healthcare administrator, and in my fifties began a writing career.

Are you part of a writer’s group and if so, how has it helped?
I am a member of two Word Weavers Christian writer groups. I highly recommend https://word-weavers.com/ to any Christian author. Getting feedback from other Christians regarding your spiritual content improves your writing. And the comradery is phenomenal.
